What the heck is a "CMS" and why should I use one?

Today a good content management system is a critical part of any developing a small business website. Content management systems such as Drupal, Wordpress, and Joomla have been a rapid rise in usage in the past few years. There is good reason for that too! It wasn't a very long time ago, that the only choice a business could make was an expensive commercial solution.
